Mr. Abraham G. Sheehan, age 87, of New Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 26, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY.
He was born in Utica on November 20, 1933, a son of the late Peter and Zalfa (Lucy) George Sheehan and was educated in local schools graduating from UFA. He served our country proudly in the United State Navy aboard the U. S. S. Borie. On November 21, 1959 he was united in marriage to Stella “Bonnie” Kochanowski at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, a blessed union of 57 years until her passing on February 9, 2017.
Abe was employed as an Electrical Engineer with the UNIVAC Corp for many years, Hamilton Digital Control and retired from the PAR Technology Corp. as a Quality Control Engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his large family.
A loving and devoted husband, father and jid (grandfather). Abe is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Walter and Nancy Sheehan of Pennsylvania, Abraham and Angela Sheehan of Delaware; one daughter and son-in-law Rebecca (Becky) and Charles Cragnolin of Sauquoit; his beloved grandchildren Nicole Sheehan and fiancé Gary Hood, Sara and Tyler Pomakoy, Walter (Wally) Jr. and Abby Sheehan, Meghan and Brian Ziegler, Abraham Sheehan, Gabriella (Gabby) and James Whitaker; one great grandson Bryce Ziegler; his in-laws Patricia and Anthony Locash of Virgina. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his 6 sisters Amelia Sheehan, Bedelia Stewart, Josephine Brennan, Mary Lewis, Marion Mody, and Rose Atkinson and his 3 brothers Louis, George and Anthony Sheehan and his canine companion Toby.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed on Wednesday morning at 10:00 am in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, celebrated by the Rev. Boutros El Hachem.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. All COVID protocols will be followed both at the funeral home and at church, requiring face masks, social distancing and trace signing. The funeral home and church will be at limited capacity and please arrive to church mass early for COVID trace signing.
