Mrs. Anita J. Fanelli, age 80, of Utica passed away peacefully on Friday December 4, 2015 at home with those she loved by her side, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She parted this world with the same grace and dignity she exemplified throughtout her life.
She was born in Utica, NY on October 27, 1935 a daughter of the late Kenneth and Gertrude Haas Borey and was educated in local schools. In her early years Anita was employed with the New York Telephone Co.
She was married to George R. Fanelli on August 30, 1958 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church a blessed union of 57 years. Anita was a avid golfer and enjoyed her weekly Domino and card games with her dear friends.
Anita was a kind, gentle and beautiful wife, mother and grandmother, whose life centered around her family. She will be dearly missed, but will forever live in the hearts of her loving family.
Surviving are her beloved husband George; one daughter and son-in-law Lenora and Michael Mihavetz of Maryland; three sons and daughters-in-law John "JP" and Mary Fanelli of Utica, George and Nicola Fanelli of New Hartford and David and Maria Fanelli of New Hartford; her beloved grandchildren Kailey and Kara Mihavetz,George, Rocco and Antonio Fanelli, Gianna, Giulia and David Fanelli, Elaina Fanelli and Arica and Craig Briggs; great grandchildren Abriana, Chrlee and Joan;one sister and brother-in-law Joan and John Dundorf of N.J.; one brother and sister-in-law Delbert and Mary Hamilton of Hammond, NY; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John P. and Ruth Fanelli of New Hartford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society in memory of Anita.
