On April 23, 2017, Anthony Dichiera, son of the late Daniel and Josephine Dichiera, passed away at home with his family by his side.
He is left to be loved and remembered by his wife of 59 years, Marguerite (Lazzaro), their son and three daughters and their families; son Daniel Paul Dichiera, D.P.T. and wife Theresa (Borruso) Dichiera and her daughter, Kasey, granddaughter Sarah Dichiera, grandson Daniel A. and Alessandra (Hammill) Dichiera, great granddaughters, Gabriella and Sophia Dichiera, step-granddaughter, Crystal Jones and great-granddaughter, Iris Jones; daughter Deborah R. (Dichiera) and Michael Mathews, grandson Michael A. Mathews and granddaughter Valerie (Mathews) and Anthony Longo and great-grandson Anthony John Longo; daughter Annette M. (Dichiera) and Garry Herbert, Sr. and their sons, Christopher R. Herbert, Garry and Meghan (Stover) Herbert, Jr. and Matthew and Lyndsey (Greene) Herbert; daughter Paulette M. (Dichiera) and John Curreri, Sr. and children John and Kristen (Abbott) Curreri, Jr. and Lisa M. (Curreri) and Matthew Coppola and soon-to-be great grandchild Baby Coppola; five sisters Dolores (Joseph Sr.) Sarcone, Theresa Collicco, Nicoletta (James) Strickler, Jacqueline Grande and Tom Ganci, and Rita (Pete) Moore, in-laws John (Lanny) Romano, Lucille (Lazzaro) and Ronald Gatto, Sr. and their sons of Frankfort and also Lazzaro family members of Syracuse and Florida, and Dichiera family members in CA. He was predeceased by his sister Rosemarie Romano and brother-in-law Anthony Collicco.
During his lifetime, he diligently worked as a teenager at Mazza's Market and as a young husband and father worked on construction. He also worked for Party Packing, Inc. Whitestown Packing Co. and as building superintendent at Steinnhorst Apartments for ten years. As a retiree, he volunteered at Compassion Coalition for ten years and with his wife, followed their grandchildren in their sports games all over New York and New Jersey.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Contributions would be appreciated to Hospice Care Inc. in his memory.
