Mr. Anthony C. “Tony” Borruso, age 79, of New Hartford passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family.
He was born in Utica on August 18, 1938 a son of the late Leonard and Rose Guidera Borruso and was educated in local schools. He served our Country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 29, 1965 he was married to Frances Dymon in St. Mary’s Church, New York Mills, a blessed union of 42 years until her passing on September 19, 2007. Tony spent his career in the roofing and contracting business, having been employed for many years with the Rieben Roofing Co., until his retirement. Tony always liked to keep busy, so he built, fixed and donated his time and talents to anyone who needed help, especially his family. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Fix-it". He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who dedicated his life to his family, whom he adored, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them at his camp at White Lake where he made many lasting friendships. He had a special bond with his neighbors at White Lake and enjoyed many years with the "crew" at the White Lake Inn. His family will forever hold his memory close in their hearts.
Surviving are three beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Fred Alsante, Tambra “Tammy” Donato and Nicole and Marco Benedetto; his cherished grandchildren Freddy, Anthony and Santino Alsante, and Marco and Gia Benedetto; two brothers and sisters-in-law Salvatore Borruso, Sr., John and Frances Borruso, Louise Borruso and Marie Borruso; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his special nephew Salvatore Borruso, Jr. who was like a son to Tony. He was predeceased by his beloved son-in-law Peter Donato; two sisters Josephine “Nina” Morrison and Patricia Gaetano and four brothers Leonard, Joseph, Carmen and James Borruso.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Entombment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Mausoleum.
