The family of Antoinette Rita Bruno (Brescia) of Pinnacle Drive, Utica mourns the passing of their beloved mother who died on January 23, 2013. She was the last survivor of Frank and Francesca (Migliaccio) Brescia.
Born in Utica, Antoinette, her mother and two sisters Serafina and Mary moved to Brooklyn as Ma and her sons established their Dry Cleaning and Tailoring Business. Upon their return to Utica, she attended local schools.
Antoinette married on November 1, 1941 to Stephen Alexander Bruno (her Stevie) at Mt.CarmelChurch in the Priests Sanctuary, a marriage of love and commitment for thirty four years until his passing on June 4, 1974.
Together they had three children; Stephanie Antoinette (Del) Prescott of CA, Mary Ann (Michaelson) Bruno of Rensselaer, NY; her beloved son Lee Francis died on July 14, 1954. She was blessed with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was so very proud of her family and beamed with pride when telling friends and family that she attended their college graduations at Wellesley, Yale, University of Santa Cruz and University of Bologna. She supported all of her children's accomplishments as well as offering them much comfort during their trials. She never failed to remind us that there is a time and reason for all that happens and with that courage, faith and power of love; all obstacles can be overcome. Family was everything to her and she cherished the many years that the traditional gatherings of the holidays and anniversaries would bring everyone together. She was an excellent cook and along with Ma and her sisters created feasts that made each occasion a joyous festival of music, food and love.
Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews; niece RoseMarie Clark (Alberico) was her fountain of strength; her godchildren CarolAnn Babcock (Rizzo), Sylvia Barlow (Alberico), Karen Ann Brescia and Donna Caleo (Saporito), and Diana Grumbowski (Bruno) was her Rose in her garden; and also her brother Orries wife Rose (Cavareta) and daughter Karen Ann of Utica She was predeceased by her brothers and spouses, Louis (Antoinette), Albert (Antoinette), Oresto, and her baby brother Salvatore; her sisters Domenica (James) Gaetano, Concetta (Anthony) Gottuso, Anna Spennacchio, her beloved Serafina (Joseph) Cannarelli, Mary (Salvatore) Alberico, and most cherished Carmella (Augustus) Rizzo.
A special Thank You is extended to Antoinette Russo-Morelli for her love and support and to Deacon William Dischiavo for his spiritual guidance and friendship.
Her funeral services were held privately with burial in the family plot in CalvaryCemetery.
