Mrs. Augustina “Gussie” A. (Gatto) Brindisi, age 100, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2022, at the Masonic Care Community with the love and support of her family.
She was born on August 13, 1922, in Albany, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Lanasa Gatto, and was educated in local schools. On October 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Angelo Brindisi in Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 31 years, until his passing in 1979.
Family was everything to Gussie. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and her table was always filled with food and laughter. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Regina and David Bonacci of Utica; three loving sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Janice Brindisi of MA, Richard Brindisi of AZ, and Tom and Patricia (Murphy) Brindisi of Sauquoit; her cherished grandchildren, Valerie and Ed DiViccaro, Laurie and Peter Abele, Alicia Brindisi, Jennifer and Ben Ayers, Robert and Lindsey Brindisi and Andrea Brindisi and husband Peter Greco; nine cherished great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Nicholas DiViccaro, Josef and Hanna Abele, Lana Brindisi, Elsie, Kai and Ari Ayers, Callen Brindisi; and several nieces, nephews, and her nieces Donna Gatto and Carrie Bonanza. She was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Gatto and Lucy Ermacor; and her brother, Joseph Gatto.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday 11/2/22 at 11:30 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet all guests at the conclusion of Mass in church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory, may be made to the Olmsted City (Lily Project) PO Box 8597 Utica, NY 13505 or the Arc Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the Mass.
