Mrs. Barbara (Schuff) Homer, age 83, passed away on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Utica, NY on September 17, 1938, a daughter of the late William and Dorothy Duvelow Schuff and was educated in local schools. She was married to Frank Homer in Frankfort, NY a blessed union of many years until his passing on August 14, 2002. Barbara was an Antique enthusiast along with her late husband Frank. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. Barbara took great pride in her role as a mother. At times, she was a disciplinarian, cook, life coach, career advisor, care giver, and a kind listening ear. She understood the line that is so often confused today and chose to be our mother instead of our friend, and we (her children) are all better for it.
Over many years of struggling with her illness, our Mother endured a life that would make the strongest person give up, but she kept on. Mom was called home on March 30th, at around 4:00 am. We are all content in the knowledge that she is no longer struggling. However, selfishly we will miss her in our lives.
Surviving are her beloved children and their spouses; Allan and Melody Homer of GA, Michelle and Richard Edic of Marcy, Mark and Jacquelyn Homer of FL., Eric Homer and Julia of SC., Frank Homer of Frankfort Hill, NY and Seth and Teresa Homer of Clinton; one daughter-in-law Rosalie Homer; 21 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Larry Homer and her sisters and brothers.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In memory of Barbara, kindly consider a donation in her memory to St Jude Children’s Hospital or The Steven Swan Humane Society.
