Mr. Bernardino "Bernard" Attili, Jr. age 94, of Utica, passed away on Friday January 5, 2018 at his home with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in Utica, on October 22, 1923 a son of the late Bernardino Sr. and Adelina DiGregorio Attili and was educated in local schools. Bernard served our country during WWII in the US Navy from 1942-1945 stationed in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatre. He received the honorable "Royal Order of Neptune Award" for having crossed the equator during his service while serving aboard the USS Daluth, Daylight, Montery, USS Wilnette and Cichamgua ships. He was awarded the US Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific (2) star Medal and the European-African Ribbon. On May 4, 1946 he was united in marriage to Uliana (Olga) Alteri in St. Anthony of Padua church, a blessed union of 71 years.

Bernard was employed with the NY Central Railroad/Conrail for over 40 years until his retirement in 1986. He and his wife Uliana were also devoted to Uliana's family business, "Alteri's Restaurant" of Clinton, for many years. He was a member of the Clinton VFW.

Surviving are his beloved wife Uliana; his son and daughter-in-law Bernard III and Elvira Attili; his daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Theodore Zammiello; his daughter-in-law Donna Attili; his cherished grandchildren Cecilia and Glenn Slattery, Catherine and Michael Visalli, Kristen and Kenneth Lott, John E. Attili, Lt. Bryan Coromato, UPD and Carrie, Nicole and Joseph LaPaglia and Anthony and Taryn Coromato; his extended grandchildren Ted and Sarah Zammiello and several beloved great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Querino and Ida Alteri of Watertown and former Judge Albert Alteri, Esq. of Utica; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved son John B. Attili on October 14, 2017, his brothers and sisters Joseph and Lena Attili, Lucy and Joseph Abdoo, Jerry Sr. and Lena Attili, Anna and Dominick Amadeo, Francis and Angela Attili, Rose and Joseph Tremorello and extended family from Yonkers, NY; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Laurina and Giovanni Alteri; his in-laws Fernando and Beverly Alteri, Mary Evans and Dorothy Alteri and his niece MaryRose Attili.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:30 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, with US Navy Military Honors conferred. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Hospice Care Inc. for their care and compassion. Also, sincere gratitude is extended to Bernard's nieces Lucy Viti and Lisa Alteri for their constant love and support. Please omit flowers.
