Carmen J. Barres, Jr., age 68, of Sylvan Beach, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 11, 2024, at the Oneida City Hospital.
He was born in Utica on June 16, 1956, a son of Cynthia Rich Barres and the late Carmen J. Barres and was educated in local schools. He was at one time married to Sandra Morgan for 14 years and remained in a union of special friendship their entire lives.
Carmen worked in the Commercial & Residential Heating & Air Conditioning business with his brothers in the family business, beginning with Mister Service Co, subsequently, M & R Heating Co. He also worked at the Falso Heating/AC of Syracuse for many years until his retirement.
Carmen was a unique person who loved life and his family dearly. His personality was bigger than life. He was an avid outdoorsman. Riding his Harley and "resting his eyes" were of some of his greatest passions. He shared many memories with so many of his closest family and friends whether it be at the family hunting cabin in the Adirondacks or at his favorite place, The Beach.
He was the best storyteller, the strongest, most wise Pygmy King. His humor and jokes were unmatched. He was a selfless and kind man to so many. He dedicated his life to his children and spent every moment he could making memories with his grandchildren. He was an honorable example of what a man, son, brother, father and nonno stands for. His family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved mother Cynthia Barres; his loving children, son Joushua and wife Grace Barres of TX; three daughters Lindsay Barres, Brittany Barres and Jermaine Waring, and Danielle Barres and Jose Mendez; his cherished grandchildren Carmen Barres-Somers, Luciano Barres-Somers, Silvio Barres-Mendez, Giuseppe Barres-Mendez, Zadiel Mendez-Nunez, Hezekiah Blu Waring, Stella and Joseph Kabot; two sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Gabrielle and Frank Prestigiacomo and Lisa and Thomas Giglio; three brothers Mark Barres, Francis Barres, and Anthony and wife Andrea Barres; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He'll see you on the clothesline, that's where he hangs out!
