Catherine "Kitty" McGurn

Catherine T. "Kitty" McGurn, age 91, of Utica passed away on Thursday April 13, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital.

She was born in Utica on April 6, 1926 a daughter of the late John J. and Margarite Pottier McGurn and was educated in local schools. She graduated from the Excelsior School of Business, received her BA from Utica College of Syracuse University, and her MS from Syracuse University. She also attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She was employed as a teacher in the Utica City School District from 1967-1987 and was previously employed by General Electric Co. Military Division in Utica.

She was a life member of the National Educational Assoc., member of the American Assoc. of University Woman, NYS Retired Teachers Assoc., St. Elizabeth Guild, St. Johns Guild and was a docent at MWPI.

Survivors include many relatives and friends in New England and NYS, and her dear special friends of the Centolella Family especially Mark, Claudia, Richard and Tom and their families; also dear friends Kathy Alzheimer, Mary Kate Rinko and Greg Hamlin as well as the Hutchinson and Chanatry Families.

There will be no public visitation.

All are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Historic Old St. Johns Church, Downtown Utica. Private interment will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery, Bennington, VT.
