Marcy

Constantino (Stan) Grimaldi was born on October 13, 1932, to Joseph and Catherine (Nicotera) Grimaldi. Stan went to heaven on October 23, 2024. He married the love of his life Constance (Connie Rehder) for 68 years. They were blessed with 7 children and 13 grandchildren.

Stan was an avid sports fan. He followed Syracuse University College sports and the NY Yankees. He really enjoyed watching grandsons Kyle and Joe Jr. play at Lukin’s Pizza on Varick Street in their band "Midnight Shadow." Stan was a loving father who, despite his long hours of work, always made time for his family. He took pride in his sparkling clean swimming pool. He attended all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. He also coached Marcy Youth Basketball and Marcy Little League. He loved a good party and always had a list of dad jokes to share. He golfed until he was 91 in the K of C senior league, loved to bowl, and visit the casino. He most loved being surrounded by his large family whenever possible, always filling the house with infectious laughter. He perfected the Italian goodbye (IYKYK). He enjoyed his Sunday coffee with the boys Sonny and his cousin Vinnie. Connie and Stan had some memorable travel adventures including Australia, a Mediterranean cruise, Italy, New Mexico, Palm Springs, and Lake Tahoe.

Stan graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School Class of 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 – 1957 as a RADAR electronic technician. Stan worked most of his life up until the age of 82. He worked at General Electric in Utica and Univac Sperry Rand in the early 1960’s when the computer industry was in its infancy and punch cards and the Univac 1004 punch processor were state of the art technology. He worked on the early versions of the barcode scanners used in grocery stores today. When Univac left Utica, he worked for MDS as a Quality Control Engineer until MDS closed and then at General Electric for another six years. Stan always worked side jobs painting houses and small remodeling projects. In the 1980s, he took a second job working evenings at Vernon Downs as a Videographer recording races from the tower. After leaving GE in 1991, he managed New Forest Cemetery for over 20 years where he completed improvement projects by identifying, locating, and restoring gravesites.
