Dominick R. “Doc” Massaro, age 97, of Utica, passed away on Monday January 6, 2025, at the Masonic Care Community, with the love of his family in his heart.
He was born in Utica on August 16, 1927, a son of the late Alessandro and Theresa Sanzo Massaro and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. He also knew the love of his second mother, the late Mary Alberico Massaro. Dominick served our country in the US Army from 1945-1947 stationed in Japan.
On November 8, 1952, he was married to Anne DeCarlo in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed union of 69 years, until her passing on September 27, 2021.
Doc was employed with the US Postal Service beginning as a letter carrier and retiring in the customer service accounting division after 40 years of dedicated service. Doc was a lifelong member of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church and was a dedicated member of the Knights of St. John Commandry # 385.
Surviving are two beloved sons and a daughter-in-law Richard and Christine Massaro of New Hartford and Thomas Massaro and fiancé Amy Barringer of Utica; three cherished grandchildren Brian Massaro and Amanda Yakuboski, Daniel Massaro and Melissa Massaro; sister-in-law Barbara (Mike) Ferro of MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Rose (Paul) Maphia and several in-laws.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday January 13th at 12:00 Noon in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, with Military Honors Conferred by the US Army.
The Knights of St. John Commandry #385 are invited to fallout at 11:45 am in church. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
