Donald W. Johnson

Mr. Donald W. Johnson, age 84, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Friday February 10, 2023, at the Masonic Care Community with the love and support of his family.

He was born in Utica, on February 17, 1938, a son of the late Arthur C. and Mary McDonald Johnson and graduated from TR. Proctor High School.

On October 25, 1958, he was married to Elaine Marrotta in Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 64 years.

Don began his employment with the General Electric Co. on Bleecker St. where he worked for over 20 years. He was then employed with the Oneida County Dept. of Buildings and Grounds, for several years until his retirement.

Surviving are his loving wife Elaine; his daughter Rene’ Johnson and Bernard Wilson of Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law Donald A. and Teresa Johnson of Webster, NY and Joseph and Jeannine Johnson of Utica; his daughter-in-law Kelly Johnson of Whitesboro; his beloved grandchildren Jason and Ashley Alteri, Lindsay Johnson, Natalie and Kyle LaVallee, Joseph and Michael Johnson, David C., Luke D. and Sydney E. Johnson; beloved great grandchildren Cecilia, Larina, Angelina and Marcus and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He also leaves his in-laws Dorothy Loucks, Tom and Karen Marrotta and Frank and Roberta Marrotta. He was predeceased by his cherished son David P. Johnson in 2021, and his brothers Joseph and John Devico, Arthur Johnson and Bill McDonald

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday 2/14/23 at 11:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, Utica. The family will receive all visitors at the conclusion of mass in church. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of the Forestport Household at the Masonic Care Community, for their loving care and compassion given to Donald during his illness.
