Mr. Edward S. Topi, age 88, of Utica passed away on Thursday April 17, 2014 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, FL. with his beloved wife by his side.
He was born in Remsen, NY on November 25, 1925 a son of the late Stanley and Antoinette Kulas Topi and was educated in local schools. On May 5, 1951 he was married to Sarah Pettinato in St. Anthony of PaduaChurch, a loving and devoted union of 62 years.
Ed served our country in the US Army as a tank gunman, during WWII.
He was a dedicated employee of the Wonder Bread Bakery for over 30 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, and was a member of the American Legion Fort Schuyler Post. Ed and Sarah were also winter residents of Port Charlotte, FL. where they spent many years and enjoyed many friendships.
Surviving are his beloved wife Sarah, a sister-in-law Margarite Pettinato of Utica and many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 10:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, with Military Honors. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's name may be made to Hospice Care Inc. Envelopes will be available.
