Mr. Ernest Cornacchia of Utica passed away on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Utica, on June 17, 1924 a son of the late Dominick and Rachel Mauro Cornacchia and was educated in local schools, having graduated from TR Proctor High School. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army.
On May 6, 1950 he was married to Phyllis Cipriano in Blessed Sacrament Church, a blessed and loving union of 65 years.
Ernest was a dedicated Firefighter with the Utica Fire Dept. for over 31 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife Phyllis, one son and daughter-in-law Mark and Angelina Cornacchia of Utica; his beloved grandchildren Nicole Cornacchia-Morgan and husband Ben Morgan of Whitesboro and Marco Cornacchia of Utica.; one brother Philip Cornacchia of Utica; one sister and brother-in-law Rose and Nick Miscione of CA; his dear nieces and nephews David and Joanne Taurisano, Carol and Michael Cragnolin, Chester and Dyann Cornacchia, Rachel and Bernie Freytag, Rocco and Bernie Cornacchia and Michael and Jackie Cornacchia. He was predeceased his siblings and their spouses, Lena and Gene Pane, Frank and Esther Cornacchia, Joseph and Ann Cornacchia, Rocco and Dorothy Cornacchia, Antoinette and Ray Herndon, Chester and Theresa Cornacchia and by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carmella and Roscoe Taurisano.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church.
