Eustace (Sonny) Minetos, age 84, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday June 4, 2024, at home after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born in NYC, NY on April 13, 1940, a son of the late Gerasimos and Vula Kontegeorge Minetos and graduated from NYC schools. He served our country in the US Army from 1957-1960. Eustace moved to Utica many years ago where he made his home.
Sonny as he was known, was the retired owner/operator of Sonny’s Breakfast Café on Mohawk and South St. for several years. He was then employed with the Paul Cecelia Contracting Co, until his retirement.
Sonny shared the past 33 years with the love of his life, Debra Rescigno a loving and blessed union.
Surviving are his wife Debra; his stepdaughter Stephanie Buxton of Utica; his special granddaughter Cali Buxton-Pham of Albany; a special nephew Micheal Minetos of PA and several great nieces and great nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 9th from 1-3 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. Prayer services will be at the conclusion of funeral services at 3:00 pm in the funeral home, with Military Honors conferred by the US Army. Private interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
