Mrs. Flora (Siringo) Leone, age 89, formerly of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday April 18, 2021 at the Masonic Care Community with the love and support of her family.
She was born in Utica on June 22, 1931 a daughter of the late Antonio and Rosaria Messina Siringo and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On September 6, 1952 she was united in marriage to Joseph V. Leone in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 65 years, until his passing on October 23, 2017.
Flora was a Legal Secretary having been employed with the Eisenhut & Arcuri Law Firm, Foley & Frye Law Firm, Kalil and Kalil Law Firm and retired as the Law Clerk for Judge John E. Flemma. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was hardworking and dedicated her life to her family and was truly their matriarch. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law Pasqual A. “P.A.” and Lisa Leone of Rome, Joseph V. Jr. and Lori Leone of Utica; two daughters and his son-in-law Rosann Stefanski of Utica and Lisa and Robert Gillette of Frankfort; her beloved grandchildren Dawn and Joe Rich, Matthew and Michael Stefanski, Stephen and Rachelle Gillette, Rebecca Gillette, Joseph Leone, Daniele Leone, Meghan, Brittany and Ashley Santiago; her beloved great-grandchildren Salvatore Rich, Alexander and Charlie Gillette; her in-laws Mary DiGristina, Angeline (Shirley) Cannistra, Russell and Laura Jean Leone, Violet Leone and Margaret Siringo, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially John and Landa Rozyla. She was predeceased by her brothers Albert, John and wife Vera, Louis and wife Beverly and Tony Siringo; her in-laws, Carmella and John Caputo, Katherine and Frank Delia, Theresa and Al Stivali, Lena Bruzzese-Papa, Rock and Angie Leone, Frank and Grace Leone, Victor and Cora Leone, Patsy Leone, Frank Cannistra and Anthony and Dorothy Leone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation for FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. All COVID protocols will be required at the funeral home and at church.
The family extends a heartfelt Thank You to the entire staff of the Inlet Household at the Masonic Care Community, especially Dr. Elis Erim and caregivers Nancy, Shannon, Courtney, Trista, Melissa and Alena.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. Envelopes will be available.
