Francine Rosalie Pinto (known as Frances or Franny) passed away in the early morning hours on December 31, 2023, with loving staff by her side. She was born on May 22, 1943, to her parents Natale and Clara (Grimaldi) Pinto, the middle child and only daughter, having an older brother Anthony and younger brother Lawrence. Frances was placed in the DDSO in 1989, moving into Westmoreland Rd IRA. She moved to Port Leyden IRA in 1999, where she resided for over 20 years, until September of 2023, when she moved to Clinton St IRA. Frances attended UCP Schoonmaker day program for many years and thoroughly enjoyed her time there, up until 2020, when she retired.
Frances was well known for her feisty spirit. She would grab her coat and go out on the town any chance she got, enjoying shopping, or stopping for her beloved Dunkin coffee the most. She took great pride in her appearance, loving to accessorize, you would always find her with a purse in hand, often reapplying her lipstick, perfume, and lotion. She loved jewelry, picking out what clip-on earrings and bracelets to wear each morning, and switching them out throughout the day. She enjoyed flipping through magazines to look at the pictures, pointing out the things she liked, or a handsome man she saw, raising her eyebrows, making a kiss face, and laughing. She also loved to listen to music, Elvis Presley being her top choice, and would dance along to the songs. Frances would greet you with the biggest smile and excited wave, happy to see whoever was coming to spend time with her and was sure to blow you a kiss when you went to leave. She was quick to win over your heart and leave a lasting impression, she will be deeply missed.
Frances is predeceased by her parents Natale & Clara Pinto, brothers Anthony Pinto & Lawrence (Larry) Pinto, and a niece Michelle Lynn Pinto. She is survived by her sister-in-law Maria Pinto of GA., her cousin Ray Grimaldi of Syracuse, nieces, nephews and extended cousins, her advocate Ann Johnston, as well as the many staff and clinical team that have cared for her throughout her years in the DDSO.
