Mr. Frank P. Barresi, age 85, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born on August 30, 1927 in Utica, a son of the late Peter and Mary Catalano Barresi, and was educated in local schools. On September 25, 1948 he was joined in marriage to Eleanor Mazzacua, in Mt.CarmelChurch, a blessed union of 64 years, until her passing, just 5 weeks ago on January 29, 2013.
Frank proudly served our country during WW 11 in the US Navy.
Frank was employed by the Oneida County Sherriff's Dept. beginning his career as a Deputy Sherriff and attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He then became an investigator for the Oneida County District Attorney Office, serving in that capacity for many years, until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending many winters in Florida with his wife Eleanor. The joy of his life was his family and the time spent celebrating traditions and everyday events with them. He was a parishioner of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.
Surviving are three loving daughters and two sons-in-law Mary Ann and Frank Mastrovito, Patricia and George Alsheimer all of New Hartford and Donna Ann Barresi of Utica; his beloved grandchildren Gina Mastrovito Smith and husband Kristian, Frank P. Mastrovito and Coleen Mahlstadt, Michael, Anthony and Megan Alsheimer; beloved great grandchildren Samantha, Kristian and Rocco; his in-laws Mary Mottola of GA. Anthony and Theresa Mazzacua of Rome, Richard and Jane Mazzacua of FL., Frank and Jennie Mazzacua of PA. and Mary Mazzacua of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews especially Angela and Robert Ferdula and Peter and Donna Barresi. He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter Vanessa Mastrovito and his brother Gerald "Jerry" and his wife Christina Barresi .
His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:00 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 10:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, with Military Honors. Private interment will be in St.AgnesCemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
