Mr. Frank A. DeRocco, age 62, of Utica, passed away on Monday January 13, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center.
He was born on November 18, 1951, the fourth child born to Rocco DeRocco and the late Antoinette (Nettie Giordano) DeRocco. Educated locally, Frank was a graduate of TR Proctor High School and UpperDivisionCollege. Frank married Donna Conte 42 years ago at Blessed Sacrament Church. Together, they raised and educated their four children. He was a parishioner of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.
Frank was a devoted family man and a most loyal friend. A respected musician for more than 40 years, he was currently, lead guitarist for "Soul Injection". With his passion for music, Frank maintained a reserved and humble nature. For many years, he was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast.
Frank was a long-time, dedicated employee of the Mohawk Valley Water Authority, as a computer analyst.
Frank leaves behind his loving wife, Donna; his beloved father Rocco. Frank was the proud father of his beloved daughter and three sons all of VA.; Gina Cassella, Frank and Nicole (Prumo) DeRocco, Vinnie and Krystle (Benson) DeRocco and Patrick DeRocco. Frank greatest enjoyment came from his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Joey and Ava Cassella and Frank DeRocco, Jr. He leaves his loving sisters and brother; MaryLou Nolan, Carmella Basi and Rocco DeRocco, Jr. Frank is also survived by his entertaining in-laws and out-laws; mother-in-law Lois Conte; in-laws Victor and Eileen Conte, Michael Conte, Alan Conte, Cathi and Bob Morgan, Mary Jo and Larry Fredsell, Carolyn and Kevin Latimer, and Sue and Charlie Greene. Frank touched the lives of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Frank cherished the memories of those who predeceased him; his mother Nettie; son-in-law Joe Cassella, father-in-law Al Conte; brothers-in-law Hector Ambrosi, Bill Nolan and Rock Basi.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 11:30 am at Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. James Cesta officiating. Private interment will be in CalvaryCemetery.
