Mr. Giuseppe "Joseph" Mauro age 74, of Whitesboro, NY passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Las Vegas, with his loving family by his side. He was also known as "Mr. Joseph" and "Joe the Tailor". He was born in Acquaviva Platani, Province di Caltanisetta (Sicily) Italy on January 10, 1942, the son of the late Dominick and Rosalie Frangiamore Mauro and immigrated to the US in 1970. He married his first love Giuseppina Tagliarini on October 25, 1958 in Sicily, Italy. A blessed union of 58 years. Giuseppe was a Master Tailor by trade having owned and operated Mr. Joseph Tailor Shop for many years. He was contacted by Jack Taylor in Beverly Hills to custom design suits for Monty Hall, Charles Bronson, Telly Savalas and Jimmy Connors. After spending time in Beverly Hills, he rejected a lucrative offer of employment because he did not want to uproot his wife and children from Whitesboro. The most selflessness man in the world. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, drinking espresso and cappuccino with his "compaesanos" at his social club on Bleecker Street, in Utica. In his later years, he retired to the sunshine and warmth of Las Vegas, where he and his wife enjoyed planting his fig trees, walking, going to the Red Rock Casino, playing poker, watching horse races and having the chefs at the casino create special meals for him.

Giuseppe was a great man who created an extraordinary and phenomenal family. He was "Old School." He lived by a simple principle, "work hard and support your family." He ruled his family with an iron hand. He was devoted to instill in each child the character traits of honesty, integrity, responsibility and perseverance. His favorite mantras were "keep your ears open and your mouth shut", and also, "think before you speak".

Surviving are his loving wife Giuseppina (Josephine); his beloved children, Rosa and Mace Szuba, Carmelina Corn and Harry Botsivales, Annamaria and Jim Giruzzi, Dominick and Rose Mauro, Ricardo and Tammy Mauro, and Brian and Michel Mauro; his cherished grandchildren, Vincenzo Giruzzi, Ricardo Giruzzi and fiancAC. Lindsay Fairbrother, Daniel Szuba and fiancAC. Jessica Burdick, Cassandra Szuba, Alexandria Corn, Briana Corn, , Joseph Mauro and fiancAC.
