Mrs. Helen C. (Gorea) Cardarelli, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Sunday January 9, 2022 at the Masonic Care Community with the support of her beloved family.
She was born in Utica, on June 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Rocco and Rose Martell Gorea and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On September 16, 1950 she was married to Joseph C. Cardarelli in Mt. Carmel Church, a loving and blessed union of 55 years, until his passing on October 24, 2005.
Helen began her banking career with the Marine Midland Bank becoming an officer of the Bank. She subsequently completed her work career at the NBT Bank in Clinton, after dedicating over 40 years of combined service to her customers. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life centered around her family. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Carl Famolaro of Deerfield; her son and daughter-in-law Rick and Angela Cardarelli of Vestal, NY; her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tricia and Nick Zegarelli and their daughter Gia; Christopher and Alaina Cardarelli and their children Nico and Myla and Michael and Stephanie Cardarelli and their children Alexis and Ava; her brother-in-law Carl Cardarelli of FL.; and several nieces and nephews with special mention of her nieces Camille and Linda Sciortino, and also her dear friend Wendy Pfeifer. She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) and husband Remo Magaro, her in-laws Philip and Gloria Sciortino and Rosemarie Cardarelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 12:00 noon in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Face masks are required for attending funeral services.
In memory of Helen, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Envelopes will be available at church.
