Mrs. Helen (Flisnik) DiCesare age 93, passed away on Thursday (Christmas Eve) December 24, 2020 at the Presbyterian Home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Utica on July 19, 1927 a daughter of the late John and Josephine Flisnik and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On July 12, 1952 she was married to Pasquale “Pat” DiCesare in St. Stanislaus Church, a blessed union of 57 years until his passing on June 6, 2009.
Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life centered around her family. She was an exemplary cook and baker and loved to prepare meals and deserts for her family. Helen’s happiest times were those when she was tending to her garden. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving are her beloved children Lawrence DiCesare, Gary and Carmella (Speciale) DiCesare, Patricia “Tricia” and Brian Carley and Peter and Dana (Primarola) DiCesare; her cherished grandchildren Krista and Ryan Koziarz, Lawrence DiCesare, Jr., Jillian Carley, Cianna Carley, Antonia DiCesare and Nicholas DiCesare; beloved great grandchildren Tyler and Adalyn Koziarz; her brother-in-law Joseph DiCesare and several nieces and nephews, especially Annette (DiCesare) Paparella who shared a special bond with her Aunt Helen. She was predeceased by her daughter Lorena at birth, her daughter-in-law Polly Vincent DiCesare in 2015, one brother Arthur Flisnik and three sisters Bernice Bruno, Joanie Padula and Stephanie (Sadie) Dodge.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Whitesboro.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of the Maple Unit at the Presbyterian Home for their care and kindness given to Helen throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home in memory of Helen.
