Mr. Jack (John) Cofano, Sr., age 80, passed away on Saturday September 17, 2016 at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY with his beloved family by his side.
He was born in Utica on July 9, 1936 a son of the late Peter and Mary Graziano Cofano and was educated in local schools having graduated from TR Proctor High School. On June 22, 1957 he was married to Lydia Monescalchi in St. Anthony of Padua Church a blessed union of 59 years. Jack was employed as an Aerospace Designer with the Bendix/Lucas Aerospace Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Class of 1954 Alumni Group and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman who was especially fond of the many fishing trips taken with his brother-in-laws Dario, Tony and Albert Monescalchi and nothing seemed to make him laugh harder than sharing stories of his many adventures with his dear friend Anthony (Jabeep) Desimone. A loving and devoted husband, father, grand and great grandfather, Jack will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Surviving are his beloved wife Lydia; one son and daughter-in-law Jack Jr., and Maria Cofano; three daughters and sons-in-law Jill and Fred Grimaldi, Janine and Butch Russo and Jodi and Anthony Olivadoti; his beloved grandchildren Amanda Grimaldi, Alyssa Bouthillier, Anthony Russo, Corinda Cox and Glenn Cox, Daniel Russo, Matthew Amodio, Joie Alaina Grimaldi, Justin and Joseph Olivadoti, Jenna and Olivia Cofano; beloved great-grandchildren Everett and Thatcher Bouthillier, and Hudson Cox; two sisters Theresa Barone and Patricia Barone Hepler; his in-laws Dario Monescalchi, Anthony and Janice Monescalchi and Linda Monescalchi; his dear friends Judy and Philip Rolchigo, Loretta Francis, Elaine and Don Johnson, Robert and Pauline Grande, Lucille DeSimone and his special golf partner Joseph Swienton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his in-laws Salvatore Barone, Rosemary, Albert, Joseph and Josephine Monescalchi, his nephew Anthony Monescalchi , his step father Joseph Barone and best friends Anthony (Jabeep) DeSimone and Albert Francis .
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 12:00 noon in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. The family will receive all visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
