Jenny A. (Anelli) Casatelli

July 6, 1922 — March 16, 2022

Whitesboro

Mrs. Jenny A. (Anelli) Casatelli, age 99, of Whitesboro, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in the comfort of her home, with the love and support of her family.

She was born in Villa Stefano, Italy.  Daughter of the late Guido and Helen Rusenko Anelli, she came to the United States as a small child and resided in Utica.  She was a graduate of the first graduating class of T.R. Proctor High School.  She was also a graduate of the Utica School of Commerce.  On June 28, 1947, she was married to the love of her life, Raymond P. Casatelli in St. Anthony Church, a loving and blessed union of which they would have celebrated 75 years in June.

Jenny was employed with MVCC and subsequently became Assistant Director of Placement at Utica College for over 20 years, retiring in 1984.

A true love story, Ray and Jenny met before WWII and began dating.  As the war started, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Germany.  Jenny was working as a civilian at GAFB and was sent to Hickam Field in Oahu, Hawaii to work, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  As the war ended, Jenny returned to Utica for the marriage of her sister, Phyllis.  Ray also returned home and spotted Jenny on Genesee St. after picking up the gowns for the wedding, and offered her a ride home.  They rekindled their flame, and have been together ever since.  They were a very social couple who enjoyed going to local dance venues as they loved to dance together.  Jenny and Ray also had a love of gardening, tending to their home with perfection. They had a close-knit family and enjoyed every Sunday dinner with them.  Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Ray; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Warwick of Whitesboro; two sons, Raymond L. Casatelli of New Hartford and Gary Casatelli of San Antonio, TX; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Elizabeth Casatelli, Daniel Casatelli, Nicole and Lyle Kamesaki, Kimberly Warwick and husband, Patrick Sullivan, and Nicholas and Gary Casatelli; her beloved great-grandchildren, Emi and Nina Kamesaki, Elora Sullivan and Maizie Casatelli; her sister, Phyllis Graffam of TN, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one brother, Louis Anelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday 3/23/22 at 11:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, Utica. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jenny's caregivers who allowed her to stay in her home these last years and to Hospice Care.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice.
