John J. Korrie, age 86, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 15, 2024, at his summer home in Sylvan Beach, with the love of his family in his heart.
He was born in Utica on November 29, 1937, a son of the late Abraham and Susie Nackley Korrie and was a graduate of UFA High School. John served our country from 1961-1963 in the US Army. On July 4, 1961, he was married to Rose Marie Casab in St. Basil’s Melkite Catholic Church, a blessed union of 55 years until her passing on October 3, 2016.
John was an exceptional stone mason and bricklayer by trade. He worked for several area construction companies throughout the years until his retirement. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #2.
John’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family. He enjoyed his summers at Sylvan Beach with his wife, children and grandchildren as well as his entire extended family. He also loved spending his winters in Palm Springs, Florida, with his wife Rose Marie. A truly humble and honorable man, John will be sadly missed by his beloved family but never forgotten.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Kenneth Coe of Canastota and his son Kenneth Korrie (Adrienne Blaszak) of Utica; his cherished grandchildren Amanda Coe, Brittany and Tyler Doane, Kenneth Coe and Kyle Korrie and his mother Liz Korrie; his beloved great-grandchildren Olivia, Gabriella and Brantley; one brother and sister-in-law George and Phyllis Korrie; his in-laws Mary Lou Korrie, Shirley Casab and George Casab; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Joe (Anne) Korrie, Anthony (Florence) Korrie, Pat Korrie and Louis Korrie; sisters Ann (Sal) Benincasa and Catherine Bolecek.
