John A. Sr. Nasto

Mr. John A. Nasto, Sr. age 92, of Whitesboro passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2016 at the St. Luke's Home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Utica on July 7, 1923 a son of the late Louis and Ursula Pezzulo Nasto and was educated in local schools. John proudly served his country during WW II in the US Army. On April 27, 1946 he was united in marriage with Euphrasia "Dolly" Scampone, a blessed union of 68 years until her passing on June 11, 2014.

John was a self-employed Electrical Contractor, having owned and operated Nasto Electric Co. for many years until his retirement.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

Surviving are two beloved sons and daughters-in-law Attorney John and Susan Nasto of Oneida, NY and Robert and Kathleen Nasto of Liverpool; his beloved daughter MaryAnn Nasto of Whitesboro, whose devotion and constant care insured the quality of life, his last years; his cherished grandchildren Nicole Nasto, Roberta Marie Rickli and husband Christopher, Rochelle Baca and husband Michael and Lindsay Della Giustina and husband William; his beloved great-grandchildren Claire, Emma, Grace, Viola and Derek; one sister-in-law Cora Nasto and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Michael Nasto and his dear aunt and uncle Margaret and Frank Ortis who were like parents to John.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 10:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Military Honors. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the staff of Barton East at the St. Luke's Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of John.
