Mr. Joseph D. Sarcone age 91, of Yorkvile, NY passed away on Wednesday October 5, 2022, at the Masonic Care Community with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Utica, NY on March 28, 1931, a son of the late Joseph and Jennie Piluso Sarcone and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On September 24, 1955 he was married to Delores Dichiera in Mt. Carmel Church a blessed union of 67 years.
Joe was in the Trucking Industry his, entire life, beginning with the Associated Transport Co. for 27 years, while simultaneously as the bookkeeper with the Piluso Service Inc. company for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro.
He is survived by his wife Delores; two sons and daughters-in-law Joseph M. and Letitia “Tish” Sarcone of Utica and Mark and Paula Sarcone of Vernon; his daughter and son-in-law Gina and Stephen Barrie of Whitesboro; one sister Elizabeth (Betty) Long of Lee Center; his cherished grandchildren Joseph and Allyson Sarcone, Marissa and Timothy McCarren, Stephen and Sarah Barrie, Tyler Barrie, Steven and Nikki Sarcone, Leah and Luke Bernardo and Christopher Laprate; his beloved great grandchildren Carter Sarcone, Lyla McCarren, and Elliot and Jude Bernardo; his in-laws Theresa Colicco, Nicoletta Strickler, Jackie Grande and Tom Ganci, Rita and Peter Moore, Marguerite Dichiera and John “Lanny” Romano and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Dolores Kiernan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday 10/10/22 at 11:30 am in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Whitesboro. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Joe. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or online at St.jude.org/donate.
