Mr. Joseph C. Talarico, age 74, of New Hartford passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at the Masonic Care Community with the love and support of his beloved family by his side.

He was born on June 26, 1941 in Utica a son of the late Samuel J. (Jack) and Rita (Margaret) DeTraglia Talarico. He was educated in local schools having graduated from Riverside Military Academy of Gainsville, GA. He was also a 1963 graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University and the Harvard Trade Union Program. On June 15, 1963 he was united in marriage to Diane Danella in Blessed Sacrament Church, a blessed union of 52 years. Joseph was the past Int'l. Secretary-Treasurer of the United Food and Commercial Workers Int'l Union and was also the past President of the UFCW District Union Local One of Utica until his retirement.

Joe was a beloved husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family. He was an extraordinarily compassionate person who always thought of others. His kindness and caring was known to many. His memory will be forever cherished by his beloved family and friends.

Surviving is his beloved wife Diane, one beloved daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Andrew Biernat; two beloved sons and daughters-in-law Samuel J. and Barbara Talarico and Joseph C. Jr. and Danielle Talarico all of New Hartford; his cherished grandchildren Joseph John Talarico, Nikki Marie Talarico, Claudia Diane Biernat, Anita Carmella Biernat, Jack Napoli Talarico, Sophia Napoli Talarico and Joseph Napoli Talarico; his brother and sister-in-law Dr. Louis and Linda D. Talarico of FL.; his in-laws John and Luann Danella and Dennis and Marcia Danella and several caring nieces and nephews, loving cousins and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be Thursday (today) from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the House of Good Shepherd in memory of Joe. The family wishes to extend a sincere Thank You to the doctors, nurses and caretakers including the staff of the Troy Household at the Masonic Care Community for their kindness and care given to Joe and his family.
