Joseph S. Tarkowski II

Joseph S. Tarkowski II, age 66, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

He was born on August 29, 1957, a son of the late Joseph and Mae (Pickett) Tarkowski Sr. Joe was a 1975 graduate of Notre Dame High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Utica College. He was employed with New York State as a state insurance auditor. Joe was a lifelong communicant of Holy Trinity Church. He was an active member, past president and treasurer of the Whitestown Optimist Club, where he proudly served his community alongside his father, Joe Sr. Joe was an avid golfer, Jets and Utica Comets Hockey fan.

He is survived by his best friend and brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Jolene Tarkowski, Whitesboro; his cherished niece and nephews, who were like his own, Brittany (Andrew) Starczewski, Christopher (Maggie) Tarkowski, and Patrick (Marianna) Tarkowski; great-nieces and great-nephews, Lucas, Wyatt, Auston, Stella, Harper Mae, Otis and Jeffrey; his special aunt, Dorothy Synakowski and numerous cousins and close friends, who were more like family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1 PM at Holy Trinity Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved parents, Joe and Mae in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Joe’s name may be made to Whitestown Optimist Club. Envelopes will be available at the Mass.
