Josephine Cosco

Mrs. Josephine (Treta) Cosco, age 97 of Utica, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the CharlesT.SitrinHealthCareCenter.

She was born on June 6, 1916 in Utica, a daughter of the late Benedetto and Maria Giglio Treta, and was educated in local Utica schools.

On June 30, 1934 she was joined in marriage to William G. Cosco in Mt.CarmelChurch, a blessed and loving union of 72 years until his passing on February 10, 2007.

Josephine worked with her husband in his television business, and she was an excellent seamstress and cook.

She was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her life revolved around her family.

Surviving are her beloved daughter, Barbara Gotte of Utica; her grandsons, Kenneth Gotte, Jr. and Stephen Gotte and wife Deanna; her grandchildren, Anthony Dobrzenski, Bianca and Gianna Gotte and Maxx and Christian Gotte; great-grandchildren, Ava and Leah Dobrzenski; one sister, Vincenza Palmiero; one sister-in-law, Josephine Cosco; and also many nieces and nephews of the Bonacci, Acavell, Perritano, DeVito, Piccola, Palmiero, Cosco and Calabrese families. She was predeceased by her husband, William G. Cosco, her son, William G. Cosco, Jr., and her sisters, Jenny, Mary, Lena and Antoinette.

Her funeral will be held on Monday morning at 10:45 a.m. from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 11:30 a.m. in Mt.Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in St.AgnesCemetery.

Visiting hours will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family extends a sincere thanks to the staff at Sitrin Health Care Center, Aspen House, and the staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center 3rd floor for their wonderful care and compassion given to Josephine.
