Mrs. Josephine (Lomanto) Faga, age 94, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, December 05, 2012 at The Masonic Care Community. She was born on September 10, 1918 in Utica, a daughter of the late Anthony and Marion Candella Lomanto, and was educated in local schools. On July 19, 1947, she was joined in marriage to the late Dominic (Teddy) Faga in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 50 years until his passing on October 22, 1997. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Josephine was the owner and operator alongside her husband Teddy, of the Mello Shop on Bleecker St. for many years until their retirement. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took exceptional care of her family. Surviving are her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dennis Tuttle of Utica; her cherished grandson, Christopher Tuttle; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Bruni of Kirkland, Lena and George Gazzal of Utica, and Frances and Guy Bonomo of Clark Mills; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Fred Lomanto, of Kirkland, and Joseph and Patricia Lomanto of Clinton; her sister-in-law, Philomena Talarico of Utica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, James and wife Bernice Lomanto; one sister, Sarah and husband Tony Shusky; and her in-laws, Louis and Louise Faga, Charles Talarico, Yetta Massa, Victor Bruni, Arlene Lomanto and Ernest Marasco. Josephine's family will celebrate her life in a private Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. James Cesta officiating. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
