Julie Ciancia

Mrs. Julie (Yapaolo) Ciancia, age 96, passed away on Wednesday November 26, 2014 at the Masonic Care Community with her loved ones by her side.

She was born on May 14, 1918, in Utica, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Julia Camelo Yapaolo and was educated in local schools, graduating from UticaFreeAcademy.

On June 13, 1942 she was joined in marriage to Louis Ciancia in Mt.CarmelChurch, a blessed union of 69 years, until his passing on June 17, 2011.

Julie was employed by the Cardamone Wholesale Liquors Co. until her marriage, and then became a full time stay at home Mom for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed but never forgotten. She was a parishioner of HistoricOldSt. John'sChurch. She also volunteered for many years with her friend Marge Greco at the ARC.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Edward Morschauser of Charlestown, RI; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Janice Ciancia of Utica; her cherished grandchildren, James Jr. and Tina Ciancia, Gina Ciancia, and Kelly Wright and husband Rich Simoneaux and his daughters Jillian and Lauren; and several nieces, nephews and the Camelo cousins. She was predeceased by four sisters, her twin Marie Scala, Theresa Cappelli, Henrietta Marrone and Ann Farina.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Historic Old St. John's Church. Private interment will be in St.AgnesCemetery. There are no public visiting hours.

The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church.

The family extends a special Thank You to the entire staff of the Windham Household at the Masonic Care Community for their exceptional care and compassion, especially Monica, Crystal and Lucy who were with Julie from her very first day.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the HistoricOldSt. JohnsChurch or the Masonic Care Community, Windham Household, in memory of Julie. Envelopes will be available at church.
