Mrs. Katharine "Kay" Citrinite Godfrey age 89, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 11, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Utica on December 25, 1924 a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Brindisi Citrinite and was educated in local schools. She was married to Harry Godfrey in 1951 in St. Agnes Church, a blessed union of 31 years until his passing in 1982.
Kay was employed with the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. for several years until her retirement in 1983.
Surviving are her beloved daughter Janice D'Allesandro of Utica; her beloved son Harry Godfrey and Deborah Carr of Cortland; two beloved granddaughters Nicole D'Allesandro, with whom Kay shared a very special bond and Sara Godfrey; two cherished great-grandchildren Gianna and Robert Acey; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Anthony (Tony Cee) Citrinite and wife Mary; she also leaves her dear lifelong family friend Connie Mott. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Frank D'Allesandro in 2002 and her brother Guy Citrinite in 2013.
In accordance with Kay's wishes, there will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. James Cesta officiating. Private interment will be in St.AgnesCemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
