Katherine Brillante (Kay) (Rizzo)

Mrs. Katherine (Kay) Rizzo Brillante age 96 of Utica, passed away on Tuesday March 28th, 2017 at Sitrin Health Care Center's Sequoia House.

She was born in Italy, on October 14, 1920 a daughter of the late Anthony and Clementine DeSienna Rizzo and came to the US as a young girl. She was educated in local schools having graduated from TR Proctor High School. On September 27, 1947 she was married to Patsy Brillante in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed union of 69 years. Kay's professional career began while still in high school at the credit department of the Boston Store in Utica. She was subsequently employed in the business offices of other local companies, and finally at the City of Utica, Water Board from which she retired. Throughout her employment, she developed accurate and trustworthy accounting skills. She was especially proud of her employment at the Utica Water Board where she maintained a lively rapport between her co-workers and the customers who personally paid their bills at City Hall.

Surviving are her beloved husband Patsy; one daughter and son-in-law Mary Annette and Guy Danella of New Hartford; two sons and daughters-in-law Edward and Debra Brillante of Syracuse and Anthony and Mary Ann Brillante of Rome; her cherished grandchildren Terra and Michael McDermott, Elissa West, John Danella, Edward and Jaimie Brillante, James Brillante, Michael Brillante, Christopher and Jennifer Brillante, Amanda and Jose Balseca; 9 beloved great grandchildren; one sister and two brothers-in-law Flora and Joseph Scialdo and Joseph DiViccaro and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Tullio Rizzo and two sisters Mary Matteo and Helen Bianco.

There will be no public visitation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
