Mrs. Kathleen "Chally" Elefante Sinisgalli, age 86, of Utica, went to be with the Lord on Friday September 11, 2015 at the St. Joseph Nursing Home, with her loving sons by her side.
She was born in Utica on October 25, 1928 a daughter of the late Pat and Cecelia Greco Elefante and was educated in local schools. Kathleen also knew the love of her stepmother Mary Elefante until her passing. Chally, as she was affectionately known, was married to Vito J. Sinisgalli, a blessed union for over 50 years until his passing in 2008.
She was employed with the General Electric Co. as a Documentary Coordinator retiring after 27 years of dedicated service.
Chally was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always put family first. In her early years, she loved helping her family in the operation of the family business "Elefante's Grocery Store" on Nichols St. Her devotion to her family was paramount in her Traditional Sunday dinners, which is lost in today's society. Her passion for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was evident at every holiday dinner, as each of her children and grandchildren would read a scripture verse, with the youngest grandchild ending with "Praise the Lord". Her family carries that tradition on until this day. She was a devoted parishioner of First Assembly of God in Marcy, where you would often find Chally volunteering her time for the benefit of others. A humble and loving woman, her family will forever keep her memory alive in their hearts.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter and best friend Cyndi Pare on February 2, 2015.
Surviving are her three beloved sons and daughters-in-law Vito P. and Betsy Sinisgalli of New Hartford, Pat and Ursula Sinisgalli of Whitesboro and Rocco and Tara Sinisgalli of GA.; her cherished grandchildren Gina and Angelo Gentile, Nicholas, Vito P., Victoria, Angelo, Kaylyn, Corrine, Rocco J., Chloe and Corey Sinisgalli; one brother Lester Dermania and his son Matt of CA.; two beloved cousins who were always there for Chally, Josie Lanasa and Dee Dee Pasch; in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-6 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Prayer services will be Sunday evening at the conclusion of visitation at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Tim Burns, Pastor of the First Assembly of God, Marcy, NY officiating.
The family extends a special Thank You to the 4th floor staff at St. Joseph Nursing Home for their loving and personal care of Chally. As Chally would greet them daily with these words "Howdy Doody Cutie"
