UTICA- Kristen M. Centolella, age 51, passed away peacefully at Faxton-St. Luke’s Health care on Sunday, April 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born on April 5, 1972, in New Hartford, a daughter of Dolores Raiano Centolella and the late Raymond L. Centolella. Kristen graduated from Utica Schools. She was employed as a manager for Boscov’s Department Store until her illness prohibited her from working.
Kristen loved life, especially being with her family. She enjoyed shopping and dinners, spending time with those she loved most and as they all knew, her heart was as big as her mouth. Kristen was an organizer and was methodical, always taking pride in her appearance. Her kindness and compassion will always remain with her loved one’s. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
She is survived by her loving mother and step-father Dolores Centolella and Ray Baker; her brother, Raymond J. Centolella (Heather Callahan) and her son Gabriel; her niece Rene and husband (Bogdan) Pyrda and their children, Zoey, Ewa, and Dominic, nephew Matthew Centolella (Katrina Phanthourath) and niece Sarah Shorey; special cousins, Lisa, Shelly, Jill and Lucretia; her step-brothers, Ray Baker and Jason Baker and many dear friends.
Kristen was predeceased by her father, Raymond L. Centolella in 2019 and her Aunt Joanie.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call this Friday May 5, from 5-7 PM at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to St. Luke’s Hospital ICU staff for their loving care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Kristen’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or online at www.stjude.org.
