Laura (Ciaccia) Burke

Mrs. Laura (Ciaccia) Burke, age 86, of Utica, passed away on Monday November 25, 2013 at the Masonic Care Community.

She was born on March 19, 1927 in Utica, a daughter of the late John and Lucy Iorio Ciaccia, and a graduate of T.R.ProctorHigh School.

On April 19, 1952, she was joined in marriage to Joseph W. Burke in St. Anthony's Church, a blessed union of 61 years.

Laura was employed by the Sperry-Rand Co. (UNISYS), and also the General Electric Co. for many years until her retirement.

She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of PaduaChurch, and a member of the Woman's Auxillary of Knights of St. John Commandery #385.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Joe; one loving son and daughter-in-law, Joseph N. and Gina Burke of Utica; one loving daughter and son-in-law, Mariann and John Young of Marcy; five cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew and Riya Burke, John and Michael Young; one brother, Tony Ciaccia of PA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and her lifelong friend Irene Talerico. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent and his wife Susie Ciaccia and her sister-in-law Pearl Ciaccia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12 Noon in St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in St. George'sCemetery, Whitesboro.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the entire staff of the Inlet Unit at the Masonic Care Community for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Laura.
