Lucille A. DeSimone age 86, of Utica, passed away on Saturday August 19, 2023, at the Sitrin Healthcare Center, after a brief illness with the love of her family in her heart.
She was born in Utica on July 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles and Amelia DelMonte Chiarello and was educated in local schools graduating from TR Proctor High School. She was married to Anthony DeSimone in St. Anthony of Padua Church a loving and blessed union until his passing on August 1, 1981.
Lucille was employed with the Chicago Pneumatic Co., Mele Mfg. Co. and for several years The Munson, Williams, Proctor Institute, until her retirement.
Lucille was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren, enjoying the holidays, especially Christmas time with all the traditions. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Patricia “Patty” and Ronald Vaccaro of Canastota, and Karen and Michael Pezzulo of Sauquoit; two sons and a daughter-in-law Anthony “Tony” DeSimone and MaryAnn Nicotera of Utica and Charles and Sara DeSimone of Manlius; her beloved grandchildren James Jr. and Nicole Graziano, Anthony “AJ” and Jordan DeSimone, Ronald J. Vaccaro, Jr., Victoria D. Vaccaro, Olivia and Elise Pezzulo and Sylvia and Charlotte DeSimone; her great grandson James P. Graziano; one sister and brother-in-law Esther and Vincent Grimaldi; her in-laws Mirella DeSimone and Phil DeSimone and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her canine companion Pepe. She was predeceased by her in-laws Marie and Salvatore Alberico, Sr., Dominick DeSimone, Jane and Angelo “Midge” DeSimone and Florence “Pinky” DeSimone.
Lucille always reflected on her time spent with her dear friends of the “Card Club”, Janine Russo, Judy Rolchigo, Regina Histed, Loretta Francis, Theresa Barone, Pauline Grande and Lydia Cofano.
Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lucille may be made be to the Sitrin Rehab and Nursing Center or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the Mass.
