Mr. Mariano J. "Mario" Spina, Jr. age 54, of Whitesboro, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 29, 2016 at his home after a long struggle with addiction.

He was born in Utica on May 03, 1962 a son of Mariano J. "Mario" Spina, Sr. and Genevieve Mazza Asaro and was educated in local schools. Mario was previously employed with the NYSDOT. A loving and caring son, father and brother, he will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Surviving are his daughter Calista Spina of Utica; one son Anthony Spina; two dear grandchildren Rylee and Giavanna; his beloved mother Genevieve "Jaye" and his beloved father Mariano "Mario"; two sisters and brothers-in-law Angela and Brian "Bear" Greco of Utica and Alison Spina and Salvatore "Sam" Mott of Whitesboro; three nieces, Santina and Briana Greco, and Giada Mott; nephew Joseph Greco; several aunts, uncles, cousins and also leaves many friends with special acknowledgement to Joe Kamide and Rick Citro. He was predeceased by his beloved son Donato Spina on May 8, 2016 and stepfather Nick Asaro.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 7:00 pm in the funeral home with the Deacon Paul Lehmann officiating. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Please omit floral offerings.
