Marie E. Caputo

Marie E. Caputo age 70 of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Utica on August 24, 1950 a daughter of the late Carmen and Wanda Olkowski Caputo and was a graduate of UCA High School. She continued her studies and graduated from Monroe Community College and St. Luke’s School of Radiology. Marie was a Sonographer by trade and was a contract worker for several area Health Facilities, most notably Medical Arts OBGYN, Park Side Court OBGYN and Digestive Disease Medicine. Marie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She reveled in the fun times spent with family and friends. She was also a strong willed person who never let adversity stand in her way. She worked hard and persevered through all of life’s challenges. A loving daughter, mother and sister, her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving are her two beloved daughters Lauren Platt and Kristin Szatko both of Utica; two cherished grandchildren Jayden Cooley and Cameron Platt; her dear sisters Virginia Clarke of Utica and Judy Carper and husband Bob of Sauquoit; her nieces and nephews Michael and Erin Clarke, David and Heather Clarke, Melissa Clarke and Ryan Bell, Suzanne and Tony Smith, Aaron and Teri Carper and Ashley and Dan Smith; her dear companion Richard Conversano and many dear friends especially acknowledging Nancy Furlong. She also leaves her canine companion, Roxy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.  All COVID protocols will be required, face masks, social distancing and church trace signing. We ask that you arrive to church early to accommodate for trace signing. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Diabetes Research Institute 259 W. 30th St. Suite 402 New York, N.Y. 10001.
