Mrs. Mary (Galime) Costello, age 92 of Utica, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was born December 8, 1920, in San Procopio, Calabria, Italy, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Calaprisco Galime. She came to Utica at 8 years old, and was educated in local schools.
On May 9, 1946 she was joined in marriage to Ralph Costello, a blessed union of 38 years until his passing April 6, 1984.
Mary was a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker to her family. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Frank Gagliano, and Cynthia and Richard Archer; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Mary Costello, all of Utica; three cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Chet LoConti Jr., Todd and Grace Costello, and Melissa and Mike Minetos; eight great-grandchildren, Vinnie and Franchesca LoConti, Michael, Mia, Gabriel and Makayla Minetos, and Gianna and Rocco LaBella; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Madelyn Guidotte of New Hartford, Edith and Richard Tofani of GA, Salvatore Mercurio of New Hartford, and Eugene and Joan Torchia of New Hartford; sister-in-law, Rose Tanzi; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Torchia and Josephine Mercurio and one brother-in-law, Frank Guidotte.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 12:00 Noon from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., and at 1:00 p.m. in St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in CalvaryCemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff of The Presbyterian Home for their care and compassion, and a special thank you to friends Norma and Ardelle.
