Mrs. Mary (Karrat) Karam, age 92, formerly of Yorkville and most recently of Clinton, where she resided with her loving daughter Claudia Karrat, passed away on Sunday December 9, 2012, at the Siegenthaler Center of Hospice Care Inc. with her beloved family by her side. She was born in Sarine, Lebanon on August 20, 1920, a daughter of the late George and Adele Saif Karrat. In 1936, Mary was united in marriage to Manuel Karam in Lebanon, a blessed union of 44 years, until his passing in 1980. She was a parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be sadly missed by her beloved family, but never forgotten. Surviving are three beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Dolla and Hafez Macaron of Lebanon, Mayous and Waleed Karrat of CT, and Claudia and William Karrat of Clinton; four beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Nabhane and Cathy Karam of Marcy, Bechara and Kay Karam of Fayetteville, NY, Segean and Mary Ann Karam of Whitesboro, and George and Aline Karam of NC; her daughter-in-law Patricia Karam of New Hartford; her cherished grandchildren Karam and Trisha, Bachir and Li, Julie, Candace, Mark, Claude, Manuel and Nicole, John, Dr. Christopher and Kathleen, Braheem, Dr. Shady and Nadine, Malek, Fred, Bobby, Nicole, Steve and Tammy, William, Kristina and Rocco, Nadine and Andy, Andrew and Stephanie and 9 beloved great-grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, Cy and Selma Karrat of New Hartford; one sister, Betty Lubus of CT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Anthony (Tony) Karam, four brothers, Nayef, John, Fouzy and Steve Karrat, and one sister, Edna Feketa. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by the Chorbishop Rev. John Faris. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday (today) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The prayer of incense will be this evening at 6:30 p.m. The family would like to thank her beloved daughter Claudia, and granddaughters Nadine and Christina for the exceptional and loving care they gave to Mary.
