Maryann (Amendola) Allen

Mrs. Maryann (Amendola) Allen, age 72, of New Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday December 23, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

She was born in Utica on November 4, 1942 a daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Russo Amendola. She was a graduate of TR Proctor High School and MVCC. On September 29, 1960 in Utica, she was married to Peter Allen, a blessed union of 49 years until his passing on April 4, 2009.

Maryann was an avid cook and talented craftswoman. She took great joy in making others happy and she will be remembered as a loyal friend.

Maryann was retired from Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY where she was a civilian employee in the Engineering Dept.

Maryann was a devoted mother and proud grandmother and is survived by her daughters Theresa Dodge of Utica and Charmaine Humbert of Syracuse; two sons and daughters-in-law Peter F. Jr. and Anne Allen of Oswego and Andrew and Sarah Allen of Utica; two sisters and brothers-in-law Elizabeth (Liz) and Victor Nole and Janet and John Cilbrith all of Utica; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12:00 noon in St. John the EvangelistChurch, New Hartford. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the military veterans charity: "Thank a Service Member, Inc.", PO Box 1010Oswego, NY13126. Envelopes will also be available at church.
