Michael E. Baister, age 59, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 15,2018 with his family by his side.
He was born on May 20, 1958, in New Hartford, the son of Marilyn (Gage) Baister and the late Eugene Baister. He was a graduate of Notre Dame H.S. and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida.
Mike’s professional career was on the cutting edge of technology, he was a Senior Mechanical Engineer, designing and developing products for Volvo/Mack Truck/Aerotek. He also worked for McDonnell Douglas, Eastman Kodak, Everfab, Moog Aircraft and General Electric.
Mike was a life-long Harley Davidson owner and loved riding his Street Glide. In his spare time, he designed custom motorcycles, wheels, and gas tanks and completed projects for the Discovery Channel, NFL Buffalo Bills Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly and judged many bike competitions across the country.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Baister, of NY Mills; his daughter, Hillary (Baister) Fisher and husband Luke, grandsons, Nico and Noah Michael Fisher; his son, Kyle Baister and fiancée Shelby of East Aurora; two sisters, Kimberly Baister Suwek of Deerfield and Lori Baister of Pittsford, NY; nieces and nephew, Megan, Meredith, and Ryan Suwek; and many very special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved son Nicholas and very special grandparents.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday May 25th, at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Genesee St., Utica. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
