Michael A. Mathews

Michael A. Mathews, age 39, of Frankfort, NY passed away on Monday February 20, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, with his loving parents and sister by his side. Michael was a courageous young man who faced many challenges and never complained. He was an inspiration to everyone he met.

He was born in Ilion, NY on June 29, 1983, the son of Michael T. and Deborah R. Dichiera Mathews. He was educated in Frankfort-Schuyler Schools, graduating in 2001 as Class President. Michael went on to graduate from HCCC and SUNY Brockport with a BA Degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Michael was a sports enthusiast, and loved baseball, especially his NY Mets. He also was an avid NY Giants fan and loved golfing. He was a  loving and devoted son and brother, whose memory will forever remain in their hearts.

Surviving are his beloved parents Debbie and Mike; his loving sister and brother-in-law Valerie and Anthony Longo; his cherished niece Michaelina Longo and cherished nephew Anthony Longo; his maternal grandmother Marguerite Dichiera and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially his cousins Stephen Bentz and Justin Mathews. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Anthony Dichiera and paternal grandparents Peter R. and Josephine Mathews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., Utica.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:30 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica.
