Michael A. Young

Michael A. Young, age 62, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly from apparent heart failure on Saturday May 4, 2024, at the Rome Memorial Hospital Center.

He was born in Rome, NY on May 1, 1962 a son of Athera Johnson Freeman and O’Dell Young and was educated in local schools having graduated from UFA High School.

Michael’s employment includes several years at the McCraith Beverage Co, Utica Community Action and lastly a fixture at the Minit Car Wash Co. He retired due to illness.

Mike was a fun-loving person with an outgoing personality. He would help anyone in need, especially family and friends. His presence will surely be missed by his loving family.

Surviving are his mother Althera Freeman; his father O'Dell Young; his three children; his son, Gaelon Young, his two daughters Tina Howard and De-Shana Young; three sisters Pamela Barnes, Karen Burden and Erika Young; 5 grandchildren Nevaeh, Ja-Lil, India, Jeremiah and Vaemere; one great granddaughter Wynter and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Ret. Sgt. UPD, George R. Freeman.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Monday May 13^th at 11:00 am in the Seventh Day Adventist Church 1134 Herkimer Rd. Utica. Burial will be in New Forest Cemetery, Utica.
