Mildred "Millie" (Taverne) DeGironemo

Mrs. Mildred "Millie" (Taverne) DeGironemo, of Utica, passed away on Saturday August 29, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital with her beloved sons by her side.

She was born in Utica, a daughter of the late Ralph and Congetta Chiarello Taverne, and was a graduate of UticaFreeAcademy.

On September 4, 1939, she was joined in marriage to William (Bill) DeGironemo in St. Anthony's Church, a blessed union of 57 years, until his passing in 1996.

Mildred was employed by the Municipal Housing Authority as a Tenant Relations Officer for many years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, a member of the Sons of Italy, Knights of St. John Woman's Auxillary, the East SideSeniorCenter, St. Elizabeth's Guild, and IAM.

Surviving are two beloved sons and daughters-in-law, William and Michelle DeGironemo of Chicago, IL, and Louis and Virginia DeGironemo of New Hartford; her cherished grandchildren, Rene and Kurt Wilson, Heather and Joseph Chiffy, Dr. Louis DeGironemo, William and Brittany DeGironemo and Joshua Goldschmidt; her beloved great-grandchildren, Luke, Sadie and Matthew Wilson, Caitlyn Chiffy, Aubree and Olivia DeGironemo; her sister-in-law, Beverly Taverne of Schenectady; nieces and nephews Connie DiMare, Marie and Joseph Donovan, Connie Corasanti, Carmella Carcone, Kathleen Morse, Angela Nole and Fred Alsante. She was predeceased by four sisters Cora Inserra, Virginia Nole, Catherine Dare, and Theresa Taverne and two brothers Tom and Fred Taverne

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private entombment will be in CalvaryCemetery Mausoleum. There will be no public visitation.

The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie's name may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or St. Jude Children's ResearchCenter.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the entire staff of St. Luke's Hospital Allen Calder Wing for their care and compassion given to Millie.
