Miss Mildred C. Ficarro, age 100, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community. She was born January 28, 1915, in Utica, the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Pontonero Ficarra, and was educated in local schools. Millie was employed by the General Electric Co., in the Assembly Dept. for over 40 years until her retirement.
Millie was a generous and caring person who loved her family above all else.
She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Knights of St. John, and an avid Bingo and Rummy 500 player. She loved to bake and cook for others, she hosted many Sunday family dinners at the family home on Guelich Street.
Surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Jenny Ficarra and DeLourdes Ficarra. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Lena Ficarra, Anthony and Zifa Ficarra, Jerry Ficarra, Carmen and Carol Ficarra, Angelo Ficarra and, Frank and Alice Ficarro.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 11:30 AM in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
