Mrs. Nora (Zammiello) Cieri, age 103, formerly of Utica passed away on Wednesday December 30, 2015 at the Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Sicignano, Italy on December 15, 1912 a daughter of the late Pasquale and Rosina Staino Zammiello. She came to the US as a young girl and was educated in local schools. Nora was employed in sales for several area businesses most notably JB Wells Dept. Store and LuBeres Co. until her retirement.
On June 7, 1941 she was married to Anthony Cieri in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed and loving union of 55 years, until his passing in 1997.
A loving mother and grandmother, Nora is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Joseph Monopoli of Rochester; her beloved grandchildren Lisa Deyo of Rochester; Carl and Leslie Monopoli of NJ; two great grandsons Joseph and Andrew Deyo; one brother and sister-in-law Frank and Gloria Zammiello of Utica and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law Philomena and Philip Arciero
Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9:30 am until the commencement of funeral services at 11:00 am at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private entombment will be in Holy Trinity Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nora's name may be made to the Masonic Care Community (Acacia Village). Envelopes will be available.
